Ruidoso Backs Our Track

Overview

The Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino (RDRT&C) has filed an application with the New Mexico Horseracing Commission seeking permission to move its operations to Las Cruces, should gaming tax relief legislation not be allowed by the New Mexico Legislature. The Village of Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs City officials, Tourism officials and other community leaders are convinced that the loss of the race track and casino would result in significant losses in tourism, jobs, revenue and gross receipt related economic loss. The economic impact to the communities in Lincoln County has been conservatively estimated to exceed 30 million dollars.

The Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce initiative, Ruidoso Backs Our Track is a concerted informational and educational effort to retain and sustain the RDRT&C in Lincoln County. Read More
