Winter Information
Ruidoso is blessed with four beautiful seasons.  One of our favorites is winter.  Make no mistake about it...winter is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors!  Of course, after you've had mountains of fun in the crisp, cold air, it's also the ideal time to curl up by the fire and enjoy some hot chocolate!
Winter Activities:

Sleigh Rides: Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh... Well it's multi-horse and it runs on tires but it's still an open sleigh and it winds through the historic Upper Canyon area of Ruidoso. D Lazy 2 Sleigh rides operates from Martha's Fabrics' parking lot on the traffic circle at the west end of Sudderth Drive by the entrance to the Upper Canyon each evening starting at 5:00 PM. Blankets are furnished. Reservations are recommended. Call after November 1st for reservations and information. Sleigh Rides are $16 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Call 575-257-7836 for reservations and information.

Tubing & Sledding: Do some slipping and sliding at Ruidoso Winter Park. This tubing and sledding area has a Kidz Korral, giant tubes, cable tows, bib rentals and a snack bar. Winter Park features tubes for 3-6 riders and super size tubes for 3-10 riders. They are located 1/4 mile west of Highway 48 on lower Ski Run Road in the Eagle Creek Sports Complex. Winter Park will be offering twilight/evening tubing on selected nights through out the season. For those selected nights, they also offer a bon fire and free marshmallows for roasting, to all riding guests. For more information call 575-336-7079.

Skiing & Snowboardinggg: Ski Apache is located on the north ridge of 12,003’ Sierra Blanca Peak, overlooking the mountain community of Ruidoso. Ski Apache’s two high-capacity quads, five triples, one double chair and New Mexico’s only 4-passenger gondola give it the highest hourly lift capacity in the state (16,500+/hour).

Ski Apache allows both skiing and snowboarding and has a terrain park with both jumps and rails. Wonderful natural snow along with a high-tech snow-making system assure the best chance of a complete Thanksgiving through early April season. A grooming crew with state-of-the-art equipment and the knowledge to use it, make the 55 trails and open bowl skiing a memorable experience. The 1,900’ vertical drop at Ski Apache offers runs for all abilities.

Ski Apache is open 7 days a week and welcomes cash, traveler's checks, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Card in payment for lift tickets, ski school, and rentals. For the 24 Hour Snow Report call 575-257-9001. For other information including lessons, ticket prices etc. call 575-336-4356 or skiapache.com.
